Re: [ST] 02 ST IGNITION SWITCH SCREWS

I ran into the same problem on my '06. The factory screw has an upside
down Torx T-30 (?) head. I have virtually every fastener turning tool
known to man, but my Torx socket set ends at T-50 on the small end of
the scale. I used a pair of stainless steel 6mm x 20mm socket head cap
screws, a pair of 6mm id x 10mm od stainless flat washers, and a couple
of drops of Loctite 242. When my switch fell out it pinched and shorted
the circuit that runs the brake lights, horn, and what ever else is on
that fuse. I'm sure the dealer would have fixed the problem for free,
but I got lucky and had my little problem about half a mile from work.
Rather than hassle with getting an appointment at the dealer, I did the
job myself. A couple of hours in my nice air conditioned maintenance
shop put everything right, and no problem since.

Hello folks.

Both of the screws that hold the iginition switch to the triple clamp
housing
have fallen out - anyone know what size screws fit in there ?? Only
thing
holding it there now is the clutch cable is in the way of it falling
completely
out...

thx / Harry
