Its more than likely going to be a volts supply fault in the switch or loom. You need to check if you have 12 volts going to the switch and then operate the start button to see if you have 12 volts on the other side- if you have then check if you have the volts at the end of the wire on the starter motor. Are you sure its not a clutch switch or side stand switch fault? Either way you need a multimeter and it would make the job easier if you had a wiring diagram.
