Are you sure its the starter motor?  There is an issue with
Sprints 
involving a wire breaking in the wiring harness (I believe
it runs to 
the clutch switch) that prevents the bike from starting.  I
had this 
happen on my 03 ST this summer, however it was intermittent.
 So you may 
want to check this out before you dig into the starter.  I'm
sure 
there's more info in the archives as well.  My bike was
still under 
warranty when it happened, so I let the dealer fix it. 
Otherwise I'd be 
able to give you more detailed instructions on how to test it. 


Yep, been there, done that :-) I suffered from the same
exact problem, intermittent to start with, until one day the
wire next to the clutch lever snapped for good. Good
suggestion, yet this time it's something else... unless it
broke again. Blast, i should check after all. Thanks.
