Thanks Chris,

I did try close proximity but still nothing :( You are right, I couldn't 
start the bike last night and had to get a lift home and then another lift 
to the bike this AM. Managed to get the bike started with the spare unit. 
Checked the batteries, by swapping them around and it seems it is the remote 
unit not the battery. That makes me nervous being down to just one remote.

Mine is a 99 ST with the factory alarm.

I am thinking of putting in a secondary switch if I can find the main feed.
