Hi there,

Could it be the engine 'pinging'. i.e. the valves hitting the cilinder??
What's your oil-level? Still ok?
The valves are operated via sprockets and chain (no, not the chain to the rear wheel). 
When was the last time they changed that chain?
How old is the bike?
Could you be more specific with that noise? Maybe that can help others to check possibilities.

Don?t think its an airleak as such as it isn?t a constant noise 
It seems to be getting worse or maybe its just my imagination now ive
