That brings up some interesting questions, Mike.
I ride very aggressively when I was commuting on the vfr everyday 108
miles (90% highway, average speed about 75mph) and yeah my rear
squared off, but the wear was still not all that heavy.
I also know guy who are in the southwest that get about 2/3rds the
mileage I got out of the tires.
And then there are the guys in the northeast that just seem to go
forever on dunlops.

So all these variables have me wondering,
which all of these factors effect the wear on a tire.
Heat,
humidity and rain,
road surface,
rider aggression,
rider weight,
road layout,
suspension settings,

I mean I was more aggressive with my bike everyday commuting than I
ever was on the oem dunlops on the bike, but the dunlops were 50%
gone at 3000 miles when the rear took a nail.
By comparison the Avon azaros that I just replaced for screws had
7900 miles and more a third of the tread left.
So is it my weight, the way I ride, where I ride or the weather that
has the most effect on the tire wear I see?

I mean look at wear you are, your weather has been mild compared to
the string of 95 degree days that we have had here in NJ. Surely that
has something to do with tire life.
How much do you weigh and how much luggage do you carry? I'm 230 and
I carry about 30 lbs of luggage on the back, plus another 5-10 in the tankbag.
Are you very aggressive on your commute (accelerating hard and stopping fast)?

Lots of factors to consider....
