Re: [ST] Engine Dying

There is no fuel pressure sensor at least on the 02. I'm pretty sure it's the same
on the 99. It's regulated to 3 bars using a pump inner system.
I don't think about any way the ECU would know about that and trigger a code.
However misfire is detected thanks to small krankshaft rotation speed variation.
I had that once (bad plugs) then I digged a bit on the subject.

Dying abruptly sound wire related to me. Did you notice if it's when handle bar
is full right or left? Some people on the list experienced wire loom problem
but I don't remember the detail. Have a look in the archive.

Tank connection: fuel gauge (under), fuel pump, fuel hoses. That's it.
Plus gauge mis-connection would trigger the MIL light.

But stumble is poor running isn't it?
Bad pump connection perhaps. But dye abruptly even at idle?? That would make it dye
but rather like an agony. But after all I never had the case. I think you can access to the connection
w/o removing the tank, but removing the side panel (or all the rear plastic, that's what I do). Give
it a try disconnecting the pump on purpose.

One sensor that for sure would make the engine dying abruptly is the
crank shaft rotation sensor. But I suspect that you would have much more frequent problems.
Well, a bad throttle sensor would have catastrophic effect too. But those two wouldn't do their
 job even at idle.

But I would think about simple before complicated causes.
