Brian,
With respect to your concern: " I have heard that gel batteries are also
more sensitive to the cold"........I live in Omaha, Nebraska, land of
God-forsaken winters and still have the original battery (almost 7 years)
on my '01 ST. I keep it on the Battery tender (which, by the way, warms
the battery slightly with its charging energy) whenever I'm not riding it.
