Nope! Just got back, yesterday, from Vintage Fest at Barber. Left(from 50mi. west of Chicago)?thursday at 4:30a.m. in the rain and thunderstorms. Rain till Mount Vernon Ill. then wet roads till Nashville, 25mph headwind all the way. At Barber weather was great! the racing, museum and swap meet even better!!! On the way down averaged 42 m.p.g. 715 miles in in 9 hours 15 minutes.
?On the way back...took lots of back roads, Tenn. and Kentucky have GREAT secondary roads! A day and a half was used getting from Birmingham Al. to centrial Illinois, when the temp. turned cool again. Stopped by Lynchburg Tenn.to take the tour of the Jack Daniels distillery, you just gotta do it!! Averaged 52 m.p.g. on the way back. Return leg was 933 mi.
?If you haven't been to Barber you gotta go, hundreds of bikes 1904-2007. And the best Lotus racing car collection in the States.
?Dennis Manning was there with #7 his 350 M.P.H. L.S.R. bike, and was giving 90 minute seminars on getting the record. Ran into Dick Mann in the swap meet, he was buying BSA single spares both unit and pre-unit, digging through boxes of of oily parts just like all of us.
?Well, going to go wash the bike now.
