Yeah, very familiar. I'm currently trying to talk an early 20s friend
OUT of getting a brand new GSXR1000. If he's lucky, he'll wear more
than a just helmet on any given day. And he's already been hit
(t-boned) by a stupid cager while riding his first bike, an F(a)Z(er)6.
Grrrr.

A couple of weeks ago I was buying mushrooms from this farm near my
house. There was a young guy helping me ( under 20). I was wearing an
Indian Tee shirt and he asked me about my Indian. I told him I sold it
and now ride a Triumph Sprint. He asked if that was a sport bike. Then
he asked me how fast it would go. He said he was saving up to by his
first motorcycle and it was going to be a Yamaha R6.
Does this story sound familiar? In 1960 I was riding a Honda CB-110
with no helmet or other protective gear when I rear ended a car that had

stopped in front of me. I was a quick learner. I always wear a helmet
and I always buckle up when I'm in a car. I'm 60 and count each day as
gravy now.
