That sounds right...the magnets I've seen have been a chocolate brown in color. 
  You should be able to pull it out using something like a dental pick down the 
outside of it then turn it to provide a surface to pull with.  My first attempt 
I used a screwdriver to prise it out and scarred the outside some, but don't 
think that hurt anything.  Just a warning to try not to do that.
