Bill,
Don't worry about it. We're an international list, with members in the
UK, mainland Europe, US, and Australia, too.
I started riding in a similar fashion (rider training course, 2 years
and 7k miles on a Kawi EX500, now 2003 Sprint ST. I would venture to
guess you'll really enjoy the Sprint.
As for the touring 2 up and weight issues, my wife and I weigh almost 30
stone together as well, and we've done several multi-day trips totaling
several thousand miles without issue (multi-day with the wife means the
panniers are FULL, too). I believe there is a maximum
rider/pillion/luggage weight of around 500lbs, but can't remember where
I saw that.
