Re: [St] New spec for 2008 1050 ST

Back in the 90s I was touring through the Mid-West with my brother,
riding my Katana. I had borrowed a magnetic tank bag from a friend
for the trip and knew better than to put my wallet IN the tank bag.

What I found out the hard way though is that just getting it close to
your wallet can cause a financial meltdown. While we were in Chicago,
I took the bag off the bike and was carrying it with it slung over my
back sort of like a back pack.

Went to go get cash and my ATM card didn't work. Neither did any of
my credit cards. Being back in the days where they didn't charge you
an arm and a leg to use someone else's ATM, I was using the ATM card
to get pocket cash, the rest went on the credit card. So here I was
stuck in Chicago with no cash, no credit and no way to get either
quickly. I had to call my wife and had her wire me some money for the
rest of the trip.

Now I always purchase some travelers checks for backup.

Never been interested in magnetic tank bags since then.
