Re: [St] Almost killed by a squirrel

two years ago a friend of mine, Mike, was doing some very daft blasting on
the N2 out of Cape Town on his limited edition GSXR750.

Brand new, just run in, complete with power commander and akcropovic pipes,
probably the sweetest track tool ever made.

At just short over 200kph (go figure he was less than 20kms from town) he
sees a dog run onto the free way (can happen so close to town!)

Dog goes left, he goes right, dog goes right, he goes left........

When he realised the dumb mutt was going to end up under the wheel he hadn't
touched his brakes yet.

He told me he instantly realised it was all over, and just relaxed hoping it
wouldn't hurt too much.

There was a big bang, he got thrown up into the air but came down still
sitting on the bike and everything still turning. He let the bike coast to a
stop, completely unhurt.

Result: broken headstock, front wheel cracked the head and squashed the
exhaust headers, only thing holding the wheel on was the clutch cable and
front brake line.

Bike was written off by the insurance, and as for the dog.......speed and
domestic animals dont mix.
