Re: [St] The Sprint ST is back

Ed,

You may or may not want to look into it, but lots of states have laws about exceeding both written and verbal estimates. I think in NH it's something like 25% before they have to get authorization or they can't charge for it.

Of course, you may not want to alienate the dealer entirely like that since they will probably get pretty pissed off. But in the future I'd ask that they write the "not to exceed" amount on your work order so that the tech out back who has no prior knowledge of the situation doesn't miss it.

Glad to hear the bike is up and running again. My RS, which exhibited similar symptoms has refused to show the problem again since I tried diagnosing it a few weeks ago. That leaves me with a bike that runs, that I can't ride due to not trusting it. :(

Keep the rubber side down,

They charged the same price as bike bandit for the switch ($202). However,
they charged $500 for labor to diagnosis the problem and replace the
switch. The switch is actually split along the horizontal seam. My
biggest gripe is that I authorized $250 labor to diagnose the starting
problem. They called me and said it was the switch and the bill would be
$700.

Shouldn't they have called and said we spent the $250 and can't figure out
what is wrong? That is 3.5 hours of labor!
