[St] Helmets

I've used Shoei's exclusively for the past 12 years, 1 retired after some
kids threw a rock at me and took a great chunk out of it (god that hurt, but
I still have a head thanks to that helmet), another retired at 8 years.
Current model is an XR1000

They are a little noisy, good ventilation low weight compared to some.

The clincher: Shoei's internal specification is LESS THAN 150g transmission
to the brain in the standard test.

To put this in perspective, in an accident severe enough to transmit the
max 300g of Snell and DOT helmets (easily achieved), you stand a substantial
chance of brain impairment. The Euro spec of 200g is MUCH safer and Shoei's
spec is just that much better.

Having been a Motorcycle Officer I am only too familiar with the after
effects of accidents and had to comfort too many parents/wive's etc after
the death or incapacitation of a loved one through wearing an outdated,
inadequate or no helmet - yes and some who would not have survived no matter
what they were wearing.
