Re: [St] frame sliders

I agree that not everyone will want or accept agruements pro or con for sliders.

I'm going to put them on my 01 ST. They are already purchased.

I have three times now had damage (hundreds of dollars) from 1. a low speed, 2. parked on a hot day asphalt, 3. stupid me didn't put my foot down fast enough on a side incline: accidents. A slider would have saved me every time. I have a buddy, with sliders, that put his bike down (he figures he had it slowed down to about 45 mph at impact) and his bike was in only slightly scarped shape. His bike slide down the road.

I'll agree with anyone that says you are going to be worse off when the bike leaves the road or the slider hits an imperfection (pot hole).

I think sliders will help me with the most likely accidents (and stupidities) and with the bad ones, well I suspect the bike may well be written off with or without sliders.

Sliders have one other advantage that I don't remember anyone mentioning. I believe you are less likely to have your leg trapped under the bike as the slider should hold it up a little more. My leg was saved, in my low speed, by having the hard bags on at the time. Combinination of bags and sliders I would think would be even better.
