Re: [St] Using Regular Gas In A Sprint ST?

Here in England I only ever use the cheapest fuel apart from once when there
was only premium left and it was late at night. Did not notice any
difference apart from the price.

I know what usually happens when lower-octane gas is used, but one near-full
tank fill recently, I tried mid-grade fuel. No detonation that I could
hear, power was still fine. I also know that a vehicle's miles per GALLON
drops a bit when using a lower octane fuel, but it's miles per DOLLAR is
actually better with the lower octane/less expensive fuel.

I wonder: if one were doing a mostly Interstate highway trip, not carrying
a pillion or excess luggage/gear, and planning on going about the traffic
pace (say, 70 to 80 mph), would a Sprint do fine on regular fuel for that
trip? Anyone have any experience with this?

Marc,
I was in Namibia for about two weeks from 17 Feb to 29 Feb. Didn't make it
to South Africa or Cape Town, but enjoyed what I saw of Namibia. The only
motorcycles I saw were in Windhoek, ranging from ~100cc bikes up to what
might have been a 1000cc GSXR. Most of the roads in Namibia are dirt or
gravel. What are they like in South Africa?

Ps, I am planning on selling my '06 Daytona 675. It is a great bike that
needs another owner.

Very cool.

I need to do that to my Daytona. The tail ends are very similar.

I have a neat flip bracket for the license plate - springloaded that I want
to fit.

You pull it sideways and it locks the plate out of sight. Unless you know
hoe to do it it looks like an rdinary licnece plate holder.

cheers

Hi DJ,

At the time I bought my sprint ST, I tried also a trophy because it was
exactly the same price.

Well, I owned at the time a K12RS and wanted to get rid of because of the
the weight and the poor cornering ability.
After trying the trophy I found out that the weight was also to hight. But
it was a very
comfortable bike. So because I do a lot of commuting (less now though) I
bought the sprint.

The position was too low/forward for me then I got an equivalent to
http://www.helibars.com/
and the position is what I want. At the time they sold the multitour
adapter+sprint fitting.
The result is a position a tad more forward but close to the trophy.
I changed also the saddle to something looking like corbin, but I think the
more recent
sprint saddles are way more comfy especially for the pillion.
I got also a triumph GT screen.
An additional thing no one mentioned here is I suppressed to foot peg rubber
pads to lower
the feet position. That make a surprisingly good difference.

I am 1m78 hight.

Dan - my apologies for not getting back to you sooner (a skiing trip and
other things got in the way) about the tank bag. I have finally got round
to taking pictures and I have PM'd you links to the photos.

Thanks.

It's finally warming up here and the Triumph needs to get back on the road.

Unfortunately one of the cats spent the night in the garage and decided my
tankbag was the litter box. I can't get the smell out.

It's one of the original Triumph ST tankbags from '99. Anyone have one
sitting around that you are willing to sell?

....and I an in Ottawa.
However, I also have snowbanks that are eight feet high on either side of my
driveway at the moment so test rides will have to wait for a month or so.

Meanwhile the "riding" on my snowboard(s) has been wonderful this month!

Cheers,
