In the UK the recommended fuel for the 955i ST is (AFAIK) 95 Octane
Unleaded (what used to be called two-star). This is the 'lowest'
grade of petrol available. I'm not sure how it compares to equivalent
fuels in the US. In the UK you can also get 97 Octane premium grade
fuel. I ride mostly about the speeds you mention, and my experience
is that 97 grade fuel in the 955 ST leads to slightly smoother
running, and slightly better mileage, but nothing so amazing that
you'd which fuel you used. On a trip around Europe I also tried some
of the 'super fuels' sold in Italy - 98 or 99 Octane. As with the 97
grade fuel, the ST ran slightly better with the fancy fuel, but not so
much that you'd really know if you just got on the bike without
knowing which fuel was in the tank.
I'd agree with Rik. I really don't think it makes enough of a
difference to really matter, unless perhaps you are riding high up in
the power output/ speed stakes. But since this is seriously illegal
on public roads, all a bit academic.
