[St] wax or...

I used chain wax and initially liked it too. But, I found that it did fly off and, futher, built up in the counter shaft sprocket cover, dried and almost crusty. Now I use a light oil -- triflow or slick 50 -- lubes well, sticks, easy to wipe the dirt off and I'm not showing a great deal of chain wear. Used that on an FJ 1200 I took from Twisp, WA to Nashville Tenn, then to Marquette, MI and back to Twisp, WA. I drive fast, but no squirt starts and unblipped downshifts. I lubed the chain each night after riding, while it was still hot, let it sit the night, wiped off excess in the AM. Never required a chain adjustment -- Been told that "O" ring, "X" ring chains do not require much more than a coating to keep them from rusting. Not sure of that, but mine do not seem to show a great deal of wear.
