Re: [St] St Digest, Vol 42, Issue 2

I had the crank sensor fail on my Trophy 4.
The symptoms were it would start and run until it was warm, about 3 miles, then the rev counter died and the engine cutout. Wait 30 minutes and it would start again for another 3 miles.
This happened when I was coming back from a weekend run.
Had to be recovered the last 180 miles.
The shop said these things normally fail outright and not temperature dependent.
Your symptoms would be that of a total failure.
Not expensive to fix though. Cost me about £30.00 if I remember.

Thanks guys,
The bike is in neutral hecked light and rear wheel rotation.Checked with a multimeter the side stand switch.
Also the kill switch, this when operated stops all the electrical parts from working an easy one to work out,
And you have to pull in the clutch lever to start at any time.
No one has mentioned the crank sensor, inside the clutch cover.
Has anyone had trouble with this? and what faults do they cause?
Thanks
John
