oh!  right -- if forgot about that.

right.  sorry.  forget everything i said before.  :-)

pad travel and lever movement are more related to the _area_ of their
respective cylinders than to their volume, and that relationship is
fixed, even as the pads wear.

the problem must clearly be in the reservoir height.
