Tour of your fuel pump circuit aka Update on Sprint RS not starting

>Both times the bike wouldn't start it had been unused for a few

Thank you for joining the tour of your fuel pump circuit, please no
crowding...watch your step. No smoking please. Beware of side trips
into related systems.....

I was going to suggest the fuel pump had frozen moisture in it, but
after refreshing my memory the fuel pump is submerged in the gas tank,
and you probably put a little gasline antifreeze in?

So here goes the electrical analyses. Starting at the fuel pump....the
Black wire goes to system ground (not related to the two black wires
from Alternator), the purple/white wire runs to the following(bear with
me) all three ignition coils then continues to the fuel pump relay**.
the fuel pump relay coil is connected directly to the ECU with a
black/purple wire, the other side of the coil is a green/red wire that
goes to the alarm connector, now the plug-in jumper connects pins 1 to
2 and 3 to 5 , the connector on the main harness (pins 1,2,3 are all
green/red) pins 1 and 3 are tied together, pin 2 from the alarm (main)
connector goes to the fuse block (fuse 1 I believe) the wire still
green/red continues from the other side of the fuse to the Kill switch,
then changes color to green and continues to the ignition switch
connector.

Pin 5 from the Alarm (Main) Connector green/red continues to the starter
switch, the wire leaves the switch as white/red which goes to the coil
of the starter solenoid and also to the coil of the headlight cut out
relay, the other side of which is black system ground.

**Back at the Fuel Pump Relay the purple/white wire connects to the
relays contacts, the wire exiting is solid purple continues to the
following locations, to connections at the ECM relay(pins 1 and 6) then
pin 16 of the diagnostice connector, and the fuse block #8 the other
side of the fuse is tied to Brown which goes to other fuses #'d 6 , 9
,10 , pin 4 (yellow/brown) of the ECM relay goes to the ECM pin 86, pin
8 (brown/pink) of the ECM relay goes to two locations, the purge valve
pin 2 , exiting the Valve pin 1 yellow/red directly to the ECM pin26,
and to pin 6 of the Cooling Fan relay coil, pin 4 of the Colloing fan
relay (black/yellow) goes to the ECM pin 25.

pretty simple!! not!!

All of this of course begs the question, did the fuse blow when you
turned on the ignition, or after you pressed the starter button? The
answer will allow you to zero in on which section of the wiring and
electrical components you should examine, should you decide to undertake
the repair instead of the experts at the dealers.

Thank you for joining the tour of your fuel pump circuit, please come
again...watch your step upon departing. No smoking please.

Peace,
Andrew
