I think I'd drop by my favourite automotive store and look for a strap wrench that is
small enough to fit in the filter cavity between the headers and the filter -- they only
cost a few bucks as I recall
I have the Triumph filter too, but I had picked up one of these 'universal' strap wrenches
to help with other bikes, so I hadn't tried it on my RS until just now -- looks to me like
it would work fine -- there's a strap attached to one end of a shaft 4 to 5" long that you
turn with a 1/2 inch ratchet
