RE: [ST] Tire Blues

BT57's are LONG LONG discontinued.. and I thought they sucked anyway... 010's are replaced by 014... (and there are better sport touring tires than the 020 ) Question is do you really need super sticky sport bike tires on an ST?? (I doubt that many are exceeding the traction available, on the street, of good sport touring tires.) Anyway if you think you do I'd go with Michelin Pilot Power, or Metzeler Sport Tec M1.. Although personally I've been VERY happy with Michelin Pilot Road, great in the wet, very good dry stick, and about 7K from a set on a BMW K1200RS which weighs about 100lbs more than a ST... Oh, and I ain't got no chicken strips to speak of :-)

aaargh!

The bike tire fitment place I use checked out the tire and recommends replacing with Battlax 010 or 014 based on the way I am wearing the edges of the '57 back tire.

They reckon stick with the BT57 on the front, but go 010 or 014 on the back, and eventually 010 on the front.

They maintain not everyone is happy with the 020's, esp. the front, and that the 57 is a better front than the 020 for harder cornering.

Sounds a bit confused to me, I'm a bit nervous going softer compound at the back than on the front.

What to do : 010/ 014/ 020/ 57 ???

Any BT boffins care to help me out here ?

thanks

marc
