I had an 85 XL650 that had a bad CDI that tested good.  What a pain!  It's
symptoms were that it would run for a week and then foul the plug.  At which
point, it would be impossible to start.  Change the plug and it would fire
right up and run for a week or 2.  Local Honda didn't have a clue until I
traded in the bike on a new DR350.  Then they just happened to find the
problem.
