[ST] RE: Strange Place To Find Neutral

A month or so back, I was out having a bit of a blast and on changing from
what I thought was 5th to 6th, I found the rev counter 'red lining' and the
speed reducing. Glanced down and saw the neutral light illuminated.
'Strange' I thought - I'm pretty sure I'm going too fast to be in first!.
Anyway, kicked it down and tried again and everything was fine. The same
thing happened again last Sunday. My question is this:

 
a)Does the Sprint have a 'neutral' between 5th and 6th and if so, WHY?
