Re: [ST] Helmet Preference...

I don't think that's a good enough reason. Someone else also said three
cheers for Arai sticking up for local shops.

Come on, If you were given the choice of paying ($449.00 + 6% sales tax at a
local shop) vs. ($329 + 8$ shiping) unless you absolutely needed it that
minute (for what ever reason) that $138.94 cost savings is a "no brainer" .
And I can't think of any reason other than life or death that I wouldn't
save that kinda money. It's worth the 5 day wait.

Besides when I said mail order maybe that was off base. Because I think the
store I purchased it from was really a store (maybe "local shop") in
California that you could walk into and purchase a helmet. They just also
happen to have a website and offer anyone to purchase. So having said that,
I doubt Arai could really stop internet sales. I know that if I were an
Arai dealer and knew I could sell to someone across the country for less
that what that person could buy where he lives I'd still sell the helmet
and steal the business. That's what "free enterprise" is all about in this
"global economy. That's how I bought my helmet, that's how I bought my
tyres, and that's how I make all major purchases. Call me scrooge but I'd
rather save the money than give it to my local shop, especially when I know
up front I'm being raped on price.

JMO as a frugal shopper.
