Most of the engine and all of the transmission are original. The head
and #1 cylinder, piston, and con rod were replaced at 31,000 miles
because a spark plug disintegrated, which led to the destruction of
all four valves and the cylinder head. At the time, all of the liners
still had much of the cross-hatching visible (repair was under
warrantee, the shop doing the work allowed me to inspect the engine
after the head was removed). The case was not split, and the bottom
end was untouched.

Since then all I've done is normal maintenance. The only repairs have
been replacing the rear shock - once because the seal failed (under
warrantee at 45,000 miles) and once because I acquired an Ohlins (at
81,000 miles). There is a bearly noticeable notch in the steering head
bearing (can only feel it with the forks removed) that I'll fix when I
next have the forks out for servicing. It may need a new idle air
valve, too, but I have some more stuff I'm gonna check before I
replace it. Oh, the battery failed at 3.5 years, too.

Still riding it just about every day.
