The only difference between the ST and RS is in the rear suspension. The
rear of the RS is 0.5" taller. By raising the rear, this causes a
corresponding reduction in the rake and trail. Any ST rider can get
basically the same effect by raising the fork tubes up through the triple
clamps (lowering the front end), albeit with a reduced ground clearance.
Contrary to what many people might believe, the RS and ST are basically the
same bike with just a few parts bin tweaks (Triumph's specialty). And to
the comments that the '04 RS is just an ST with less body work... well,
that is basically what it has been all a long.
