Yep, the '99 bikes came with an 18-tooth front, while 2000 and later
bikes came with a 19-tooth front (at least here in the States). I've
run 17-, 18-, and 19-tooth front sprockets, and have currently settled
for an 18-tooth. It is my favorite combination of snap and mileage.
