My brother has well over 120,000 miles on his Honda ST1100 and I have almost
8000 on my 01 Triumph Sprint ST.  We've ridden side by side on a few
extended trips and your comment about not going wrong either way is correct,
IMHO.  The two bikes make well-matched travelling companions for comfort,
distance, and handling.  Honda makes smooth, nearly perfect bikes that last.
Triumph makes, well, ummm, Triumphs.  I like Hondas because they are Hondas
and I like Triumphs because they are NOT Hondas!  My ST is a wonderful
long-distance traveller and it ain't too shabby on the twisties, either!  My
suggestion, since you asked?  Pick the one that fits you and, hopefully, it
will be the same one that calls your name!!
